Christmas Candy Activity for Kids

Christmas Activity for Kids Math

I bought these gingerbread men and snowman foam shapes from the dollar store.I have been trying to think of the many different way you can use these foam shapes to try and stretch the dollar. I will be bringing you several activities involving these foam shapes, so make sure to check back this month.

The first activity is decorating a gingerbread man shape with M&M’s. This is a great way to practice counting and to practice vocabulary words. Learning with candy? I am pretty sure that most kid’s would not want to pass that up!

For this activity you will need:

  • Gingerbread foam shape
  • M&M’S or any other type of candy

This Activity

  • Promotes fine motor skills
  • Enhances math skills such as counting and quantity
  • Builds vocabulary
  • Teaches holiday themes and concepts
  • Teaches colors

First we started with the buttons

Then I told her to put on the eyes but didn’t show her where to put them. She knew where the eyes were supposed to go.

Then I helped her with the mouth

Then we cleared it and started over this time counting. Isabella can count to 4, so we would count to 4 together.

She then she ate one of the M&M’s and thought it was hilrious when I made a big deal out her eating the gingerbread man’s “eye”
