On a recent family trip, we found a stash of Little People left over from when my now teenaged nephew was a toddler. My boys were thrilled, and couldn’t wait to play. Needless to say, the toys needed a bit of a rinse after a few years of non-use.
As I washed the toys, I realized bathing the Little People would be a fun activity for the boys. I gathered a few washcloths, plastic bowls, and measuring cups, and we went outside.
The boys took the idea of this being a “bath” very seriously at first. They washed the Little People, scrubbing with a washcloth, and using measuring cups to rinse their hair (this is how I wash my boys’ hair). Then they dried off the toys, and placed them away from the water, moving on to the next bather.
Of course, this eventually progressed into tossing all of the Little People into the water, and scooping them up with measuring cups. For toddlers in particular, scooping up the toys in a measuring cup takes a fair amount of coordination and fine motor skill.
The boys had so much fun with these pretend baths that we kept bathing Little People throughout the weekend.
